Incredible Panoramic Views at Hotel Luna Liquida in Puerto Vallarta

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico

I’ll be honest, I booked Luna Liquida Hotel an hour before we got into town. I had no hotel lined up and staying in Puerto Vallarta that night was an impromptu decision, but I’m so glad it happened. As unique travel experiences go, Luna Liquida was unforgettable.

As soon as we got there, the staff was extremely welcoming. At first glance, the outside of the hotel just looks like a regular house, but once you step inside I guarantee you’ll feel like you’ve walked into a dome-style home. It’s magnificent.

The Lobby & The Room

I was immediately impressed at how the sun filled the courtyard house. Be sure to look up to see the beautiful colors and trees mixing with the beautiful blue trimmed windows. It’s like being on a retro film set. The Courtyard has a section where you can relax and make some tea or coffee and enjoy the breeze. It’s a must-see.

After walking past the lobby, there are 3 different directions that lead to the rooms. The staff was so generous and welcoming, we even got moved to the honeymoon suite which is the highest room in the hotel. To get there, you have to climb up the tree-house spiral stairs. If you want to feel like you’re staying in a tree-house, I recommend asking for that room. The view is breathtaking, and walking out to the balcony to see the sunrise is one of the biggest memories I have from my stay there.

The bed came with a vintage-style sheer lace canopy which really added to our experience. I have pretty bad insomnia but having the net for some reason made me sleep like a baby. Especially, being cuddled up with your partner, it’s very romantic. How more vacation-y can it feel?!

Check out the stunning hotel below!

The Pool Area

Before we headed to our room, one of the staff members insisted on giving us a grand tour of the hotel. There are not many hotels where you get offered this experience! My partner and I were more than impressed, especially once she walked us up to the patio that overlooks the city. According to her, when the hotel first opened, National Geographic would come to their pool area to take photos of the cityscape. You can see why in my photos below- the way the sea meets the city is so awe-inspiring and unique. Though there are other hotels on pretty high hills in the area, this one has the most stunning view by far. It’s not the kind of view that you will experience every day!

Drinks by the infinity pool? Yes, please! There are plenty of places for everyone to relax (sitting, laying down, or in the pool) and the hotel has a cooler right there full of different types of drinks. It’s a cute honesty-style bar so all you have to do is leave your name and how much you drank on the notebook and they’ll bill you after you check out.

Nighttime dip in the pool? Yes, please! To add more to this beautiful hotel, the pool changes color at night to create a gorgeous ambiance. The view, once again, is stunning as well at night. It’s a great way to experience the city at night in a slightly different way. You can also see the infamous pirate boat lit up while people are going on a little nighttime dinner cruise.

Know before you go

  • Location: To me, it was perfect! Downtown is only a few blocks away and the walk is all downhill. The hotel is in one of the highest locations in the city so keep that in mind when you’re planning your trip. Walking up and downhill every day might be intense. I’m in pretty decent shape and I was out of breath walking back up. Especially after a few drinks.

  • Driving: If you’re driving or taking a taxi/ride-share, be prepared for some really steep and thin streets. They definitely freaked me out most of the drive up to the hotel. Most cars had to back up because they didn’t fit both cars.

  • Adults-only: The hotel is strictly adults-only so if you are planning to take anyone under 18, sorry, but the hotel won’t allow it.

  • Bedroom: The honeymoon suite is up in the tree-house spiral stairs and it’s a beautiful room! The bed is comfortable and about medium-sized. The experience was very unique and it felt like we were on our own personal tree-house rather than a hotel. The hotel experience is a huge part of the overall travel experience so do try out this room for something out of the ordinary.

I only recommend hotels that I truly enjoy and this is definitely on the list! The view and the room were absolutely stunning.
