The Girls of Texas '60s
This album holds a special place in my heart. I stumbled upon a band called “The Heart Beats” when I was still living in Tejas and I was looking for anything of them and all I could find at the time was this compilation. Even better, I was able to discover other “girl bands” and I just went down a black hole of researching and listening to everything I could find.
Being born and raised 50% of the time in Texas, in the very southern tip of Texas by a border of Mexico, to me this album was a huge shock to me. I didn’t know many women in bands growing up and even less any women in bands in Texas. The older I got and the more into music I dove into the more bands I found.
This is an album I treasure so much and I’m so happy that the people I have shared it with have loved it as much as I have and I hope you do too!
