Tiki Bars - A Bay Area Guide
If you would have asked me what a Tiki Bar was about 10 years ago, I would have looked at you with wide eyes and a “huh?” face expression. Where I was born and raised, tiki culture wasn’t a thing. My first tiki bar experience was in Houston Texas and I was amazed at how many friends I had that were very into the tiki scene, yet I had no idea. And that’s okay!
If you don’t know what Tiki culture is, no need to be embarrassed, I didn’t learn until my mid 20’s. This is also not something I’ve seen be very popular in border towns.
According to Wikipedia, “Tiki culture is American art, music, and entertainment inspired by Oceanian art, Caribbean art, and art of the east Pacific.”
That being said, ever since my first tiki bar, I do love checking out any tiki bars when I travel. I mean, the drinks…delicious! I really can only handle one lol but it’s still really fun! If you don’t know what a tiki bar is, I highly suggest you check one out. Even if you don’t drink, just tell the bartender and they can make you a delicious drink without alchohol. I honestly prefer mine without alcohol!
Here’s a list of tiki bars in the area I like! There’s something for everyone!
