“Yabba-Dabba-Doo” Exploring Flintstones Bedrock City before it is Gone Forever
Williams, Arizona.
I was so sad to hear the news about the closing of The Flintstones Bedrock City last weekend- it’s been around since the 70s, so it’s certainly a vintage tourist attraction!
I’m glad that I got to see the park at least once, but I sure wish I could have visited one more time before the closure- it’s a really surreal and special place. It was a bit of a fluke that we ended up here- we were driving by on our way to the Grand Canyon when Matt spotted the sign for Bedrock City! We ALMOST didn’t stop, but one quick u-turn later, and we were in retro paradise.
It was only a $5 entrance fee, and honestly, it was a bit sad and creepy because the characters and buildings were looking a little tired and it was pretty deserted. That said, Bedrock City is completely unique, and the park is a seriously cool retro throwback. I guess if there were a lot of people around it would’ve felt happier and more joyful, but it was like having our own personal park while we were there which was awesome!
Get ready for a ton of pictures!
Stepping inside!
There are a ton of houses, cars, and statues of the characters. Our eyes were going crazy looking everywhere and taking in the sights. It’s so out of the ordinary to see so many Flintstones themed attractions in one place.
We took a ton of pictures so it was hard to knock it down to the many that I posted here. It definitely was its own little city. If you’ve seen it on The Flintstones, you’ll probably find it at Bedrock City. There was a movie theatre that had a looping Flintstones episode, a car wash, school, jail, and more!
The Hair Salon
The hairstyles shown in the photos are amazing! Who wants to throw a Flintstones-themed hair party?!
The Grocery Store
Can you imagine shopping here? Not many options but how much would one dinosaur egg cost?
Read more about the closure here. These pics are from when we visited on April 21, 2018. A few friends recently visited and said that it was still up and running but I read that sadly, a few statues have been removed. I’m not too sure so do check ahead online before making a trip there.
